About the Journal

Transociology is an interdisciplinary academic journal dedicated to transcending conventional disciplinary and geographical boundaries. We contend that contemporary social phenomena—from transnational migration to digital transformation, from regional integration to global inequality—cannot be adequately understood within the confines of a single discipline or the nation‑state framework. We advocate a “trans‑” perspective: trans‑regional, trans‑societal, and trans‑disciplinary, re‑examining the constitution and transformation of the social world at the intersections of flows and encounters.

The journal centres on four core domains:

Trans‑regional and Transnational Social Dynamics: examining transnational migration, refugee and diaspora experiences, global‑local entanglements, the formation of trans‑regional social systems, and the social dimensions of regional integration processes;

Social Transformation and Change: focusing on demographic shifts, social policy adjustments, diverse pathways of transformation, and the unique value of ethnographic methods in capturing the micro‑textures of social change;

Interdisciplinary and Cross‑cutting Perspectives: integrating the social implications of digital technologies and artificial intelligence, political sociology, cultural sociology, economic sociology, and multi‑disciplinary readings of regional development;

Comparative Sociology: committed to cross‑national and cross‑societal comparative research, examining regional and national differences from a global perspective, and uncovering the social structures and mechanisms of global inequality reproduction.

Transociology welcomes theoretical contributions, comparative studies, ethnographic fieldwork, and interdisciplinary methodological innovations. It aspires to provide an open yet rigorous platform for scholars in sociology, anthropology, political science, economics, and area studies to collectively engage with the complex social issues of our globalised era.
